Today we’d like to introduce you to Jon Wolfe.
Jon, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve been touring and releasing music for a decade now. I’m based in Austin, TX, and started out in the beer joint in Houston, TX at an open mic night. I developed that into a national touring career, and now, we tour all over the country. Going back about 3-4 years ago, I started developing Juan Lobo Tequila as a passion project, and ultimately, we launched the brand at the end of July of 2019. We’re now focused on growing Juan Lobo Tequila in the state of Texas, as well as the continued growth of my touring and music career.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say neither career has been anything remotely close to a smooth road, especially the country music career. That takes years and years of beating doors down, trying to put out music, trying to get it in front of the right people – definitely a very difficult time, growing a country music career. The Juan Lobo business has had its challenges. I’m not going to lie, because of my country music career, I’ve had certain doors open up to me and the tequila world that we’ve gotten lucky in, but the liquor industry is very difficult. It’s very competitive and that’s what we spend most of our time doing is trying to find ways to grow the brand.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Juan Lobo Tequila – what should we know?
On the country music front, I’m really proud that we’re independent and that we’ve grown so much throughout the years. We don’t have a record label. We’re all in-house. My team works for me directly. It’s a very tight-knit group. Same thing with Juan Lobo Tequila; it’s very much a true startup. We’re very proud of the presentation of the product, very proud of the taste of Juan Lobo tequila, the profile, and again, proud of the team that we’ve put together.
